I've scheduled a daily backup and pointed it to a folder (outside of public_html), on a hosting plan I have.
Lets says the hosting plan is compromised, and they find my WHM backup, is it secure.
IE, could they trawl it and find the root password or anything else ?

    Thanks

At the moment, I'm only hosting one account, however, there will be multiple accounts at some point in the future.

You should store the backups in a root-level directory if you plan on storing multiple account backup archives. Otherwise, if that one account is hacked, it could lead to exploits of the other accounts.

    Thank you.
