I uploaded a 1,356mb file in the backup area to restore my account but it did not restore it all the way. The file is still in the tmp directory. Is there anyway I can extract the file?

    Hello

How you are restoring the account, through SHELL or through WHM or from cpanel (web host manager)

If you are using the shell
upload the backup in /home partition
then type /script/restorepkg username on /home

    Through WHM
Upload the backup in backup >>daily partition then use the following option
    Backups >> restore backup

    Through cpanel
backups >> upload the backup file under Restore a Home Directory Backup option

To extract the backup manually you can use the following command
    tar -xzvf backupfile name

Still you are facing the problem then provide the error message,

    Thanks

i am having a similar if not the same issue. i have uploaded the backup restore in cpanel to a new host yet nothing has happened. it was a complete backup not just home dir and the only thing i can do is download or upload. is there something else i must do to restore the site to the new host or must i manually extract the files and upload them?

Your host will need to restore this for you as it says in cpanel backup.
Contact your provider with the request.

it doesnt say that in the backup, but i figured out that i could just do home dir and database backups seperately and restore them. there was actually no option to restore a full backup and i was reading it wrong.
