Problem:
SMTP-SSL (service name in logs: esmtpsa) port 465
IMAP-SSL (service name in logs: imapd-ssl) port 993
I checked all customers since I started and it has never recorded the above mentioned services.
I did a test to track it with 80mb of traffic and the bandwidth user stats did not record any traffic.
One client has 60kb of traffic (no web site setup) and I sent them around 80mb of email 3 days ago with nothing being recorded.
This explains where my missing traffic is going.
For my own cpanel account also it has no traffic being recorded for email also since I am using secure email also.
I searched your forum and found no help on this problem so please let me know.
At the moment as far as I know it is possible to have a 100mb limit on a hosting account but use it to send and receieve GB's of email using the secure POP3S, SMTPS, IMAPDS ports, unless there is something unique to my configurations.
In theory when you select to enable the SSL options for each of the mail services inside of WHM then if cPanel finds that those ports do not already have monitoring setup then at that stage it should apply the new rules to the bandwidth statistics for user control so that it both displays in the users cPanel and allows the sysop to cap a users usage as it will be now included in the traffic count.
I understand the limitations of other tracking ports due to formats of log files etc but in this case they are identical for a pop3 or pop3-ssl just that the tag has different text as the service tag name. The format for the two is identical in the same log file. Likewise with smtp and smtp ssl the format is identical in the same file just a different service tag name.
Thanks,
Chris
