Howdy!

We use Google Drive as the destination for our nightly, weekly and monthly backups.

Is there a way to retrieve/transfer the backups back to the server from Google drive without first downloading to a local computer and then reuploading to the server?

Downloading and uploading is substantially slower than server to server. When an account restoration is required, time is often of the essence, and large accounts can be extremely cumbersome to restore in such a manner.

Thanks!

Hey there! There isn't a way to do this as pulling them down to the local system is still the best way to handle that:

If they were stored in a different location other than Google Drive, such as an FTP server, you would be able to use rsync to connect to that remote system and pull the files down directly. Since that isn't available with the Google Drive service, it needs to go to a local system with access to the drive first.

Is there no way to do it with something like wget?
there is no direct commands available for this. if you are a developer then go to google console and get gdrive api. With this api you can develop a script and use it.
