Hope you gurus out there will know whats going on here... this is becoming a real living nightmare.

I had the same problem which has been documented on these very forums but from about 4-6 months ago, that apache kepts stopping all by itself, but WHM would think it was still alive, hence no apache restart. I wouldnt even get a warning about it.

The errors in the error_log would show
[warn] [csd] filedescriptor (1304) larger than FD_SETSIZE (1024) found, you probably need to rebuild Apache with a larger FD_SETSIZE

So, the NOC kindly did a rebuild of Apache for me. But then, again without any warning, it went crazy again and stopped apache.

This time, the error logs say nothing out of the ordinary at all!

What can I do? if i knew what was causing this i could stop it, but i seem to be going round in circles.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.
