Big Server load with no CPU usage

    Hi

    I'm getting really high loads - about 5 - even whe I see in TOP command that no process is getting more than 20%

    did somebody expirienced the same ???

    here is the example of top:

    does dmesg show you anything related to the hard disks in the machine?

    root@blah# dmesg|more

    if you see any lines stating a SeekComplete error or similar, It could be a faulty hard disk causing the loads.

    Just my 2p's worth :)

    Actually load was because of Mailscanner.

    But thank you anyway for 'dmesg' I didn't know it
