I have this problem since a few weeks on several cpanel servers. After a server reboot, bind is not starting automatically anymore. I have to restart it manually, then it works. It's not the case that bind start just a bit later, it's not starting at all. Just had the problem on a server that the pages where offline for several hours, til I started bind.

In the logfiles /var/messages I did not find any problem.

Earlier we had the chksrvd service which started services if something fails. But this is not existing anymore on new servers. Is this not existing anymore?

You will have to fire below command in a shell and it shourt start on bootup.

    chkconfig named on

The above command only works for CentOS.
