    Hi,
    I'm getting this error when setting up new accounts.

    Rebuilding DNS Zones List from master server .....
    stdin: is not a tty
    ndc: connection to remote host closed
    This may indicate that the remote server is using an older version of
    the command protocol, this host is not authorized to connect,
    or the key is invalid.

    I also get that error when restarting bind. The master name server is RH7.2
    The server getting the error is RH9

    Does anyone know how to fix this?

    And yes, I've already tried /scripts/fixndc

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    You need to add this into your named.conf
    #################
    key "rndc-key" {
    algorithm hmac-md5;
    secret "whatever is found in /etc/rndc.conf";
    };

    ###################

    The portion above is taken from the last portion of /etc/rndc.conf

    If the file /etc/rndc.key is not found, generate it using rndc-confgen -a

    Do make sure that the rndc-key declared in /etc/named.conf and /etc/rndc.conf matches exactly.

    Hi,
    I actually got bind to work but still getting the error. There were 2 rndc keys in the named.conf. I removed one of them and the domains started working again. I think I will still do what you said anyway though.

    Thanks!
