I have no idea why but Bind failed.

    Steps:
    1. Named is on in service manager
    2. updated cpanel to R119 (9.9.8)
    3. /scripts/./fixndc (tells me already fixed)
    4. Restarted BIND
    5. /scripts/updatenow
    6. /scripts/fixnamed
    7. rndc reload

    Please help :)

    OS: Fedora Core 1

try to tail -f /var/log/messages and read what is going on when you restart it...

What indication do you have of it failing?

Is this a new server setup?

What do you see when starting Bind from the prompt? service named restart

    Look @ last lines..

    try to type
    rndc status

and if you se something like this...

    number of zones: 2530
    debug level: 0
    xfers running: 0
    xfers deferred: 0
    soa queries in progress: 0
    query logging is OFF
    server is up and running

everything is ok, if it gives error, try to remove key from /etc/named.conf and do /scripts/fixndc
    service named restart
    and do
    rndc status

if it stil fails, open another ssh window, do tail-f /var/log/messages and look what is going on when you restart it, that part of log you pasted is not showing anything...

I tried removing the key (only key not entire line) and I got an error so I reversed that.

    root@tungsten [/scripts]# rndc status
    number of zones: 18
    debug level: 0
    xfers running: 0
    xfers deferred: 0
    soa queries in progress: 0
    query logging is OFF
    server is up and running
    root@tungsten [/scripts]#

    tail-f /var/log/messages
Got a command not found here.

    Everytime I run ./fixndc I get

    root@tungsten [/var/named]# /scripts/fixndc
    Fixndc using rh9/rhes3/fedora support
    Found key in named.conf ..
    Found controls in named.conf ..
    named.conf has already been fixed!

I also get that annoying "hostname missing a entry..." nonsense in WHM. Usually I can fix this but the problem is related to BIND as it is not add teh a entry in "change hostname" area.

IP=xxx.32.66.106 Bind reloading on duser using rndc zone: [thedomain.com] Error reloading bind on duser: rndc: 'reload' failed: not found Add Complete

I wish I know *exactly* what fixed this, after running all these fix scripts but I did a graceful reboot and tried to add an entry for hostname, works now :)

Sorry if that is not enough help

But, we all know that the best fix is usually /scripts/fixndc

    Remove entire line

    run /scripts/fixndc

    reload named

and look in tail -f /var/log/mesages whati is still missing

    that's all
