hi,

i recently found that some there is a 80% of packet loss when i try to ping using Watchmouse, so i tried to repair the NSD, i have switched to BIND but now i cant restart it or configure it,
whe i restart it i have this message:
Waiting for nsd to restart..............finished.

nsd has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "nsd is not running").

Or:

What exact steps or corrective measures were performed in attempt to repair NSD?

Are there any errors or other difficulties while attempting to use BIND?

Please let us know the output from the following commands:
Code:
# grep -H '' /usr/local/cpanel/version /var/cpanel/envtype
# stat /var/cpanel/usensd
# /scripts/setupnameserver --current
# /scripts/restartsrv_named --status
# /scripts/restartsrv_named --check
# /scripts/restartsrv named
I would consider trying the following script to forcefully switch to the desired DNS/name server daemon:
Code:
# /scripts/setupnameserver --help
setupnameserver [options] [nameserver type]

    Options:
      --help Brief help message
--force Rerun configuration routines even if the selected
                   nameserver type is already configured
--current Show the currently selected nameserver type

    Nameserver Types:
bind Suggested. Functions as both authoritative
                   and caching nameserver.
nsd Lower memory. Functions only as authoritative
                   nameserver.
      disabled Disable the local nameserver.
Here are three examples, one for BIND, one for NSD, and one to disable the local name server daemon.
Code:
# /scripts/setupnameserver --force bind
# /scripts/setupnameserver --force nsd
# /scripts/setupnameserver --force disabled
