I just received the following automated email...
Have run rkhunter & chkrootkit... all clear. Nothing suspicious can be spotted anywhere... a Graceful Reboot has "cured" the problem, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same and managed to find a cause...
Putty'd in, ran top, and cpservd-ssl was consuming 30% or more CPU useage for each instance, and every account on the system was running an instance (37 accounts)...IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
This is cPanel stats runner on golem.over-clock.com!
While processing the log files for user otter, the cpu has been
maxed out for more than a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of
this email is
4:38PM up 5 days, 9:18, 0 users, load averages: 9.23, 9.37, 9.73
You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take
steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to run even with a high load; Edit
/var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run
/usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes).
