    Hey there,

    I'm having a problem with my server and Blackberry phones. Blackberry servers open IMAP connections (one for each email account) to my server and NEVER close them. The connections keep up even the user stops checking email and turn off the phone!

    Look:

    tcp 0 0 ::ffff:74.52.23.239:143 ::ffff:67.223.72.221:34176 ESTABLISHED
    tcp 0 0 ::ffff:74.52.23.239:143 ::ffff:67.223.72.221:55716 ESTABLISHED
    tcp 0 0 ::ffff:74.52.23.239:143 ::ffff:67.223.72.221:59588 ESTABLISHED

    The problems occurs on IMAP (143) and IMAP-SSL (993). How can I force Courier to timeout the connections? I suspect the Blackberry servers keep sending "noop" or something, forever.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    You can remove the IDLE option in the Courier config at /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd under IMAP_CAPABILITY.

    Can be done for Dovecot also just takes a little more effort.

    I just moved a client from one Cpanel server to another Cpanel server and now his Blackberry has stopped working. I've been looking everywhere for a reason it would stop. Everything in the move worked flawlessly except imap Blackberry.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    /var/log/maillog and /var/log/messages will tell the tale. _IF_ his Blackberry is hitting the new server, all the answers will be there.

    Thank you.

    I contacted them and asked that they change to none SSL and after awhile it began working. So right now it could have been his phone service connecting to the old server and a suspended account. But I see his phone hitting the new server now. After a few days I'll get them to test 993 again.

    Thanks
