Specifying Fail or Blackhole for undeliverable email doesnt work.

Supposedly, if you specify &fail&, email messages that dont match account email addresses are returned to the sender with an undeliverable messages. I tried blackhole today, email was supposed to be eaten up and just trashed, but it was also returned to the sender.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

[email protected]
(generated from [email protected])
unknown local-part &blackhole& in domain &srv08.host.cc&

Are you sure you're specifying :blackhole: and :fail: (with the colons)?[/quote:12bb7e5ea6]

No without the colons.

&No without the colons& or &No, without the colons&? :p

You have to use the colons.[/quote:92df4069b5]

Check out the on-line userguide. http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/

You can't get anymore specific than that ;)

In particular the &Setting your default email address& page.

Direct link (looses nav) : http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/settingDefaultEmailAddress.htm

The default address page clearly states:

Hint: You can enter :blackhole: to discard all incoming unrouted mail, or :fail: no such address here to bounce it.

Difficult to see how you could miss the colons. What did you think they were there for???

I think he is confused about the colons. I also have had this problem and I DID use the colons. I got the same exact error message that he got.
