Block FTP Access

Hi All,

I was wondering that is it possible to create an account in cpanel in which the customer can just operate mailing and nothing else. Means no FTP access no website running?

If it is possible pl. let me know how can i block FTP access for the accounts that are already created.

You can do so by using Xmail skin.

I set one account to use xmail but ftp access is not block, I can still upload files using ftp software.

While I don't recommend this because of it's laborious nature should you accidently do an 'FTP password sync' from within WHM, you could simply edit the password file manually for the domain account. The password files are stored in /etc/proftpd regardless of if you are using Proftpd or pure-ftpd. Since ftp accounts aren't created for individual mail users, I would imagine the main account password would be the only one that ever needs changing.

Good suggestion from DalQuest, I can't find the password in /etc/proftpd but the username is there, when you change the username, access to ftp will be denied. This maybe a temporary solutions for those who wanted to offer only email to their clients.

Each cpanel account should be listed there. It is a text file similar to the /etc/passwd on standard unix systems. type /cat then one of the usernames (cat thisuser) and it will display the associated logins and passwords for that account.
