I've noticed today that there are many blog sites that are
    linking to websites' cpanel port
    eg) www.mydomain.com:2082

Has anyone else noticed this ?

    Look at this site http://www.jennifersblog.com
bottom left under links -it's a link rotation, so you may have to refresh your browser.

Why would people be doing this anyway? really stupid

I know how to block the referrers domain, but
How can the port '2086' be blocked ?

That's really annoying. Where are these links coming from? I get them in my referral logs, too.

annoying is right ! -for us anyway

    I don't get it.
Why would you want to take visitors to a password protected directory ??

I guess it is some kind of script randomly generating links.

I guess it also harvests subdirs, in this case the subdomain cpanel, which resolves to port 2082
