BoxTrapper creates a gazillion mails in inbox

Hi,

When BoxTrapper sends these autoresponders to spam mail that are using non-existing addresses, the servers hosting these domains sends back an autoreply "Mail delivery failed".

In turn, that mail triggers yet another autoreply from BoxTrapper, which creates yet another "mail delivery failed" and so on.

Eventually, I get tons of absolutely useless "Mail delivery failed" mail in the inbox which I need to delete manually on a regular basis. It's a major PITA, and I'm not sure if BoxTrapper is better than receiving the spam as usual.

(Besides and in a wider perspective: If BoxTrapper generates this mind boggling amount of junk mail all by itself and only for me, one can wonder about the responsibility the gadget has for the global problem with clogging up the net and chewing up bandwidth, i.e. the exactly the opposite to what it's designed to do.)

Isn't there any way to prevent the above from happening? Using blackhole in some way?

All the best (and sorry if the above came across as just whining. It's a huge problem for me, and I'm worried when a gadget who's designed to prevent spam actually generates more...)

My solution to all the auto replies.

I'm not sure how all this works exactly, but after seeing a ton of mail come back into the domains main account, what I did was to set up a filter in cpanel to filter all those replies to discard them.

Where we would have 100's of them in a few days, with only a few email accounts using boxtrapper, now with the filter in place I see only a few auto replies in the main account each month. Then I just delete them. Not even sure how those few are getting through, because they shold be filtered out. But we can handle a few odd ones and it doesn't clog the main account at all.

Hope that helps....

Turn off Boxtrapper spamtrap in tweak settings is usually recommended

In our case we want boxtrapper enabled. We have about 70 email accounts in our cpanel for our domain. Box trapper seems to be working just fine for those accounts that have it enabled, about 8 out of 70. Those are the accounts that complain about too much spam.

In the cpanel main account (which is really not an email account) but just the control for all accounts, is where the "Delivery Failure" junk comes back into. We have set the filter up there to just discard it and it works fine. Now the actual users (8 of 70) can use boxtrapper and we are not over burdened with the return emails.

Is there any config that could delete the messages at Main Account Inbox after some number of days?

This could solve these problem whitout any filter config.

Thanks.
