I have several users who have tried emailing me at joel@clinecomputers.com and receive a boxtrapper type of a message in return stating that they need to reply for verification.

I utilize the user panel and it shows that the boxtrapper setup is disabled for all accounts on that domain.

I tried doing the following: find /home/account -name "*boxtrapper*"

    It didn't find anything.

    Is there something I'm missing?

    Thanks!

If you had once enabled boxtrapper their most likely will still be some files associated with those accounts

did you do a updatedb before searching?

you will find the files here

    /home/user/etc

    /home/user/etc/domain.com/emailuser

ok.. I am having this problem also..

In /home/user/etc there is a .boxtrapper directory

In /home/user/etc/domain.com/user there is a boxtrapper directory, a .boxtrapper directory, and a .boxtrapperenable file

Should I just delete all these files and directories to stop this from happening?

&#%@%^ What is a reason to enable "boxtrapper" by default? We have just upgraded Cpanel to 10.8.0-S21 and some users have already enabled this tool on their accounts. We DONT want to use it on our servers, so we disabled boxtrapper, removed boxtrapper directories, reinstalled Exim... Who will pay for our time?

BTW, 100% sure that .boxtrapper will be created again...

So my question - how to COMPLETELY disable/REMOVE this tool?

It looks like we are experiencing this problem as well. Boxtrapper is not enabled in the Tweak Setting section of the WHM, but it still seems that boxtrapper is working. I am seeing entries in the exim_mainlog that have:

    Code:
    R=boxtraper_autowhitelist T=boxtrapper_autowhitelist
I have gone through and renamed .boxtrapper directories in user's etc directories, but those directories seem to be recreated.

Has anyone submitted a Bugzilla entry on this? Or anything to let the cpanel developers know that Boxtrapper does not appear to be disabled when disabled through the WHM.

Can you just disable the boxtrapper binary at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/boxtrapper ? I'm not sure if disabling this binary would prevent mail from being delivered entirely or not.
