I see that under WHM there's a CPanel branding section where you can change the header pics. However I still see the annoying "cPanel X" title. Is there a way to change that without having cpanel overwrite the changes when it's updated?

Just clone the x theme, update the stdheader.html file, and make it the default theme. Then setup your branding for the modified theme. HTH.

Or drop 5 new images in to replace the originals here. /cpanelbranding/x/
    (in the reseller account)

The only change I make after an update is to make the center image tag set to 100% again instead of the fixed size. My logo has empty space there so I need it to stretch.

Works for me and if the theme gets an update I'm still ok.
