    We've recently discovered a strange occurrence on a large number of our servers regarding a new symlink which has been causing issues with our clients.

    The following symlink was created:
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/branding -> /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/paper_lantern/branding

    When a user selected the theme, it would cause issues and they wouldn't be able to access their control panel until they were reset to the original x3 theme.

    Does anyone know why there would be a symlink theme called 'branding'? And if this was a result of a new update or recent change?

    That symlink shouldn't be there. If you delete it, then run /scripts/upcp, does it return?

    Just did the update again and no symlink was created. Very strange.
