    <IfModule mod_php4.c>
    php_admin_value open_basedir "/home/ambienta:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp"
    </IfModule>
    <IfModule mod_php5.c>
    php_admin_value open_basedir "/home/ambienta:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp"

    Go on, have a guess
    There's no problem with those statements being there. They're there for if/when you do upgrade to php5. The conditional statement means that the enclosed directive is only included if that version of the php module is present.
