    first of all note that mssql is not support by the cpanel and you shifted your site from windows to linux, it support mysql database. you can use the following sample code for connect to mysql database.

    <?php
    $link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'mysql_user', 'mysql_password');
    if (!$link) {
    die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
    }
    echo 'Connected successfully';
    mysql_close($link);
    ?>
