To have a seperate cpanel for a subdomain requires setting up the subdomain as a seperate hosting account.

Just go into WHM and create a new account with subdomain.domain.com as the domain name and configure the settings to what ever you want and create it then they will have there own CPanel, FTP Login, SQL, and all that its like a regular hosting account but just as a subdomain. You can also make it a reseller account.

To delegate full control of the zone to the nameserver in question ( because you could delegate to say server 3, when the main domain is on server 1 ), the nameserver who is authorative for the domain name in question needs a NS record adding for the subdomain, which simply tells it which nameserver is going to manage DNS for the subdomain.

For example, i have muppets.com and want a seperate account for kermit.muppets.com, i would add the following record to DNS for muppets.com.

    kermit.muppets.com. NS yournameserver.com.
