I want sub.domain.com to point to differentdomain.com. Can I do that in WHM? Perhaps I need to make a cname entry? Thanks.

An easy way to do this is via the cPanel interface. After creating the subdomain, go back to the Subdomains screen and click "Redirection" next to your subdomain. Here, you can redirect it to another domain.
