SOLVED Can I remove the remote MySQL icon from cPanel?

Hi,

We don't allow remote MySQL on shared servers so we would like to remove the remote MySQL icon from cPanel to eliminate confusion.

I'm looking in the feature request section but it only lists MySQL not just the remote MySQL option.

It's not possible at this time, but we do have an open feature request for this at:

Disable Remote MySQL in cPanel

The first comment on that request includes a workaround to hide the icon in cPanel (though it doesn't actually disable the feature).

The solution stated in that feature request to remove the remote_mysql icon in Cpanel no longer works!

@goodmove - it seems the steps in the feature request page aren't formatted very well at this point. Can you try this?

-create the /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/paper_lantern/dynamicui/dynamicui_hide_icon.conf
-add the following code:

[{
   "file":"remote_mysql",
   "skipobj":"1"
}]

That worked well for me on a test machine just now when I tried that.

I just run this:

nano /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/paper_lantern/dynamicui/dynamicui_hide_icon.conf

Add this to the file : file=>remote_mysql,skipobj=>1

And save

It's been working O.K.
