Hello,

I want to suspend a cPanel account in whm but want to know whether the user in that account can still receive/send the mails or they will miss the mails during the suspended period.

Hello :)

Yes, email functionality is disabled when an account is suspended.

Thank you.

I believe the bug was fixed - but there was an issue for a while where, while suspended, SMTP would still work for the suspended users. Hopefully a cPanel representative can look at the case ID 77981 and see if it was resolved and update this thread for you.

We haven't run into the issue in a while but, that said, we have custom outbound spam filtration so account suspension isn't the only option for us for outbound spam.

Internal case 77981 is still open at this time. It's in the investigative stage, so anyone experiencing an issue where suspended accounts can send out emails are encouraged to open a support ticket so we can reproduce the issue.

Thank you.

Good to know - we haven't experienced it lately largely because we no longer suspend for outbound mail [our mail filter drops the messages instead].

I'm happy to try and reproduce the issue on my dev server if needed - let me know.

Yes, please open a bug report if you can reproduce this issue and reference case number 77981.

Thank you.

I remember that bug. I always wondered why, when an account was suspended, it wasn't noticed. And it's because they were still using email.
I don't suspend often, but when I do, I have been manually editing the MX record.

It would be good to know I don't need to be so detailed anymore.
