Can Site Content alter cPanel? It is, I think!

My server has been operating fine for months and months. It has two database heavy sites, let's call it Site 1, and Site 2.

Recently, on Site 1 I added about 10 Banner Ads and links for these advertisers. Soon after, two problems emerged.

Problem 1: My Full Backup option disappeared from cPanel. I can get into the backup module, but when I click the link for Full Backup (where you can generate a download of a full back-up or utilize teh Drop Down menues for an FTP back, and where you can see the links to all your past Full backups) well, that page is essentially blank. Just the paragraph that says what the page does appears - none of the links or drop down menus.

We went ahead and upgraded cPanel. I was on v.10, and upgraded to v.11. But the same problem exists.

Please note that for my 2nd site, Site 2 - when I go into cPanel, there are no problems. Everything is as would be expected. Just Site 1.

Problem two. At this same time, Site 1 is overloading due to a loop in my Cron Jobs. It gets into a loop and overloads and no one can then access teh front end, admin or cPanel for Site 1. I can easily access Root level and Site 2, but Site 1 is "overloading"

We are trying to figure out why this loop happens. We do a Reboot - the loop is cleared, but comes back later.

Can the Advertisements be affecting cPanel? Can the loop be affecting cPanel?

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with cPanel.

    Thanks for any info!!

    - Stuart

Note that cPanel/WHM/Webmail is served by cpservd, whereas websites are served by Apache. For something in Apache to affect cPanel/WHM/Webmail is unlikely as not even the PHP installations are the same.

If a page is appearing blank in cPanel/WHM after an upgrade, first try clearing your browser's cache/cookies. Next, if you're on cPanel 11 now, try switching to the X3 theme. X and X2 are only provided for legacy purposes.

As for the cPanel interface being slow for site1 but not site2, is this the homepage of the interface or a particular page (such as a listing of email accounts)?

If you are having a malfunctioning cron script, I would recommend fixing that as well.

Thanks for the response - the cpservd/Apache comment is good to know.

The cPanel page (Full Backup) is actually not completely blank. Part of the page presents only:
    It shows:

    “Full Backup

A Full Backup will allow you to create an archive of all the files and configurations on your website. You can only use this to move your account to another server, or to keep a local copy of your files. You cannot restore Full Backups through your cPanel interface.

    Backups Available for Download:”

That is it! It no longer shows my previous Full Backup links, nor the dropdown menus for FTP or ability to even click a link for any Backup. I only see the description noted above in quotes.

Also, it was working find for months - v.10,then one day - poof - the information on that specific page was gone - only the quoted information. Nothing had been touched in cPanel. Upon the upgrade to v.11 - this same page is doing the same thing. Just showing a descriptive paragraph, but no links.

My programmers can not figure it out. The management company I use (Platinum Server Mngt) have no explanation. This is not good... I have years of work in this project without the current ability to back up.

WOuld love more info on how to solve this problem.

    THANKS

Try the following if you have not already done so (in order, stop when things work properly):

    - Switch to the X3 theme
    - Clear your browser cache
    - /scripts/upcp --force

If none of those work, contact your cPanel Licensing Provider for assistance so they can look into the situation and perform corrective action.
