make sure you have configured name servers correctly for the domain .. that is on the server and at your registrar end.

if you are using private name servers ( your own name servers ) , they must be registered at your registrar end and should be resolving .

if you are using registrar name servers ( registrar's DNS service ) , then make sure you have configured A record pointing the website to your server with correct IP.

Also it takes few hrs for DNS propagation.

am trying to access a domain I own. However when I enter the URL it says DNS Server unknown
Hi,
Please make sure website DNS record it correct. You have to check it intodns.com

You may also want to use a website such as IntoDNS to see if your domain name is assigned the name servers provided to you by your hosting provider.
