    Hi;

    After a IP change on our cPanel server the FTP service seems to malfunction.
    When connecting to the FTP server I get the following
    Resolving address of xxxxx.com
    Status: Connecting to xx.xx.xx.xx:21...
    Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...

    and there it stops until the connection times out. I cannot see that any type of connection was ever established for the user (RAW FTP log download) and I cannot see any logs in the windows client shedding any light on the issue.

    Anyone have an idea what might be causing this?

    Thanks!

    I checked on the server that the pure-FTPD server is running via > ftp localhost

    You changed the main shared IP is that correct?

    In WHM > Account Information > List Accounts, does the account you're trying to access via FTP show the new IP address?

    With the IP change, domain might be under dns propagation. Please make sure if it is accessible with the new IP address.
    If it is not then you will have to wait for some time to connect ftp via domain name untill dns records propagates fully.
    Secondly you can use new IP address as ftp host instead domain name for ftp.

    Hi;

    Thanks for your reply. I tried to connect via IP adress but same result.
    Also the account shows the new IP address.
    I noticed in the pure-ftpd.conf file the passiveportrange row was commented out. Would this be standard procedure? Pros/cons?

    Thanks!

    Do you have access to the machine as root user or only as a reseller user? If you have root access, try disabling the firewall temporarily to see if this is firewall-related. If you do not have root access to the machine, you will need to have the provider of the machine investigate further.
