After searching the threads I can't seem to find this unique situation.

We have a hundred or so accounts on a cpanel server.

We went to WHM to create a new account and that goes just fine, we select a package etc. The accounts get created, then I go to login to test the account and I cannot login. I've tried from multiple web browsers as well as multiple computers to login. It's the only account have issues when it comes to logging in. All current accounts are working fine.

I've tried changed the password and I also get an error that says:

"The password for 'username' could not be changed because: "

And that is it, doesn't tell me why it couldn't be changed.

    Thoughts/suggestions/help

    Check the error log

Run the following command and leave it running while you try to change the password:

    Code:
    # tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log
There should be an error displayed. Use Ctrl+C to end the tail command.

Also, check to make sure the user and group were created in the first place, using these commands:

    Code:
    # grep $USER /etc/passwd
    # grep $USER /etc/group
Replace $USER with the actual problem username. Does the home directory structure for the user appear to be correct?

[2010-06-23 08:47:10 -0400] info [whostmgr] Failed to verify token C_8AvxXaz9RKPT5g

    is the error I recieve.

I checked the directory structure and all is good

    grep $USER /etc/passwd
    # grep $USER /etc/group

I ran these commands as suggested and that looks normal.

    Try clearing cache

If that is the only error you see, the only thing I can think of is to try clearing the browser cache, since it indicates an issue with session tokens. If that does not help, please go ahead and submit a ticket so that we may investigate directly, as this does seem to be a peculiar issue.

    You are welcome

To be honest, I was not sure if that would help or not, but I am glad that it did.
