This might be a noob question.

I have setup our new web server on our local LAN, before sending it to the datacentre.
I have installed Cpanel/whm, but i cannot login via a browser after the installation. I have followed all instructions from this site, the only i'm doing different is - i am trying to login via the internal IP, not the domain name, as the box is still on our LAN.
Do i need to login via a domain name NOT say http://192.168.1.1:2086 ?

I want to make sure the server is functioning ok before sending it to the datacentre.

    Thanks

Have you tried logging in via that server's publicly visible static IP address?

I have reinstalled everything twice now.
The server is still on our local LAN (not in the datacentre yet) so the publicly visible IP address cannot be logged on to.

I doubt if you can use your local LAN IP address to connect your server’s WHM or CPanel.

cPanel/WHM must be licensed to work properly. You may wish to acquire a 15-day test license of our software from the cPanel Store at no cost: http://www.cPanel.net/store

I have activated a test licence.

    Still cannot login.

Should i be able to log in via http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2086 - "x" represents the external IP, same one i use to ssh into the box.
Or do i need to use a domain name?

You can use the IP address. Maybe IPtables (if you are using Linux, the software firewall that the operating system installed) is blocking this port. Try to run /sbin/iptables -F and try to login to the WHM Manager.

That helped. But now when i log on i get the following errors -
    I have ran - /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
and have verified our test licence, both went through with no error.
