    Hello,

I am trying to use "Web Protect " feature of Cpanel to password protect directories. It used to work initially, but not any more.

When i try to access the password protected folder , I am shown the home page of the particular domain.

The .htpasswds files and the .htaccess file seem normal., what could be wrong ?

    Any insights will be appreciated.

    Regards,

When you say they seem normal, have you checked the permissions? Most of the time when this happens, it ends up being a permissions or ownership issue.

    Hi Nick,

Yes the permissions are 755 and they are owned by their respecitve owners. I guess it has to do something with Cpanel, coz if i try to do it manually it works.

    Regards,

Without attempting to protect the directory, the file shows just fine.
It's only when I add the pw protect that I get the redirect to the home page.
