    Using Stable 9.9.7/9.9.8..s6

I upgraded to Current on Friday Night. Soon after, all email stopped working.

I shouldn't say that, it appears to work from what I can tell, the problem irs, no email is being delivered to or through the server. I can send from a home email to the server, any address, it appears to go, but the email never shows up on the server. I can use my mail client to send through the server, it appears to work, but the mail never shows up at destination on or off server.

I've just gone back to Stable, rebooted the server and still no joy.

I checked the exim/mail logs - nothing strange there.

    I ran mailperm/fix mail db/permissions - no help.

shadow files look to have *.mail .

    Anyone Please?

It's probably related to exim bring upgraded when you updated. Going back to a previous version of cPanel would still leave it upgraded. Do you have MailSanner installed, by any chance?

    Current exim version is exim-4.43-40_cpanel_smtpctl_av_rewrite_mm2_mmmtrap_exiscan_md5pass

Is there an easy way to go back? I'm not real sure what it was.

The quick fix is to go into WHM > Exim Configuration Editor > Advanced Mode Editor > in the first textbox add this line:

    split_spool_directory = no

The save settings and it'll start working again for you.

The more complex depends where MailScanner was installed from. If it was from the original cPanel layer1 install or from my script, then you can use my mscheck.pl script at (at the bottom):
    http://www.webumake.com/free/mailscanner.htm

If not, then you'll need to follow the post here:

    Where have emails gone?

Does anybody know where the emails that where sent while CPanel/WHM is affected by this bug end up?

I have clients who have lost a days worth of emails and they would like to locate them. Are they stuck on the server somewhere, and if so how are they released?

There are no emails in the mail que, and also no bounce back messages, so they must be somewhere!

They're at the top level of /var/spool/exim/input/ if you're not using MailScanner. If you are, they'll be in /var/spool/exim_incoming/input/

It may be possible to simply move them into one of the subdirectories within that directory, but I haven't tried it.
