I've tried to use FTP to upload files - common scripts. One directory uploads and another gives bizarre errors. It's not the client since I easily uploaded to another server that worked flawlessly.

    WinSCP yields the following errors:

    error creating folder /home/mysite/public_html/myscript/core/

    Error code: 4
    Error message from server: Failure
    Request code: 14

When I use Filezilla, I get a pop up on some files asking me if I want to overwrite a file that is the same name but size of 0kb. Don't understand as the directory was empty and there were no files there. Always the same files won't upload. Error in filezilla is "could not start the transfer."

This is something new and I'm wondering if it was a result of updating cpanel.

I had same problem and found incorrect folder permissions set to "ftpuser" directory. The permission was set to drwx--x--x , after I changed permissions to drwxr-xr-x (755) everything working fine.

    chmod -R 755 /home/cpanel-accountname/public_html/ftp-account-directory
