I had Configserver do their cPanel thing to my server and they blocked the mySQL port.

I need that port open as I use it every day. I unblocked the port in csf, so I'm able to connect to the database now, but on every account I get "access denied" messages when I try to open table.

This worked before the config, so I know it works, what am I missing?

Add the IP address you use to connect from to the ALLOW list in the CSF firewall.
You will be fine after that and you should be able to remove port 3306 as well.
