Im installation a new RHEL 3 server. I installed MySQL but it refuses to start and i dont see the mysql user in the /etc/passwd file. Its trying to start with the uid and owner of mysql but that user is not on my server. Iv run /scripts/mysqlup and --force multiple times and it has not corrected the issue

in /var/lib the owner is 27.27. Since mysql user is not in the password file i cannot chown it mysql.mysql. Where is the mysql user?

    drwxr-x--x 4 27 27 4096 Oct 10 14:27 mysql/

    Tried /scripts/fixmysql
    Change password in WHM

Nothing creates the user mysql

Im also see this error when i try to force the mysql update again.

safe_recchown: Error Fetching the uid/gidInstall Complete

    051010 14:53:34 mysqld started
051010 14:53:34 [Warning] Asked for 196608 thread stack, but got 126976
051010 14:53:34 [ERROR] Fatal error: Can't change to run as user 'mysql' ; Please check that the user exists!

Im running phpsuexec too. What is mysql supposed to run as user mysql or root?
