    Ive been trying to user mac osx terminal to talk to my server and I havent had any luck either it says connection refused or invalid password...

    now iam confused, is the username and password to connect to SSH the same as the FTP user and pass.

    Can anyone tell me where I would go to set up a SSH user and pass so I can use the osx terminal to manage my server.

    :)

    how does one get SSH user and password?

    how does one get SSH user and password?

    I keep on being denied , do I have to activate anything in WHM or Cpanel

    Iam using the same user / pass as FTP . is that the right way to go?

    Re: "how does one get SSH user and password?"

    In order to access SSH, you need to use same Username/Password you use to access cPanel/FTP of your account. If it is not allowing you to login then please make sure 'Shell Access' is enabled for this account. In order to enable shell access following the given steps:

    => Login to WHM
    => Go to "WHM >> Account Functions >> Manage Shell Access" link
    => Search your user in the list and enable any of the shell as per your requirements

    Hope that will help. If you fail to connect again then paste exact error you are getting from SSH client.
