Can't get to website with www

1. I can get to my website using http or https without www

2. I can't get to my website using http://www or https://www - I get server IP address could not be found error.

3. I searched the forum and suggests I verify (CPanel). SO, I went into DOMAINS > ZONE EDITOR > DOMAIN/MANAGE and found:

www.example.com. 14400 IN CNAME example.com

Doesn't that mean WWW in front of my DOMAIN should work?

Hi

i think that is your issue there.

i have attached an image of what my CNAME is for my website so you would be able to copy everything and then add your domain and TLD in the last part for example "cpanel.net"

OK - just need some clarifications (yes - I am a rookie at this).

I should keep this: www.example1.com. 14400 IN CNAME example1.com

and ADD ANOTHER entry that reflects this: www 3600 IN CNAME example1.com

I would say no but always write down any changes just in case you need to revert them and I would just change the values on the cname record

Another situation to take into account is whether or not the DNS for the domain is hosted locally or not. If the domain does not have it's nameservers pointed to the server and DNS is hosted on the registrar all DNS records on the server would be void. The CNAME record for www. would need to actually be added at the registrar in that case.

Oh now cPanelLauren - this is way beyond my pay grade!

Guess I better hold up on doing anything - afraid I will really make things worse.
