This scripts updates the mysql.user, mysql.db, mysql.host and the
mysql.func tables to MySQL 3.22.14 and above.

This is needed if you want to use the new GRANT functions,
CREATE AGGREGATE FUNCTION or want to use the more secure passwords in 3.23

If you get 'Access denied' errors, you should run this script again
and give the MySQL root user password as an argument!
Converting all privilege tables to MyISAM format

    Why?

Sounds like you have mysql installed before you've installed cPanel, which usually is not a good idea. You don't mention your OS, but if it is rpm based, I would suggest using rpm -e and install all of your MySQL rpms and then start again.

You have to specify the full package name when using rpm:

    rpm -e MySQL-devel MySQL-client MySQL-server MySQL-shared-compat MySQL-embedded MySQL-bench MySQL-shared

    Same problem, VERY FRUSTRATING!!

I have the exact same issue. Brand new installation, like i've done in the past and for the last 4 days it won't install. This is really frustrating as the server is co-located and each time, i have to go in and re-install the machine. Anyone know how to get this working please???

I'm paying for co-location and the server is just sitting there not doing anything because i can't install cPanel on it.

Are there any issues with the install / update servers? Please, anyone that can help i'd appreciate it.

I'm running CentOS 4.1 - clean install without any MySql, Exim, etc.....

    Anyone?

If you're paying for the cPanel license, I'd suggest that you log a ticket with cPanel and have them look into the problem for you.
