    I was using ProFTP.
WHM news recommended switching to PureFTP for "security reasons", so I did.

Immediately, no one could overwrite their files through FTP. They could delete a file and then upload a new version, but they couldn't overwrite it.

So I went into WHM and switched *back* to ProFTP.

And we still can't overwrite files. 550 error every time we try.

If you have any suggestions, please speak up!

Getting some type of answer on this would be really helpful.
I sent in a support ticket with nearly verbatim text in it as the post above, and the response was "what happens when you switch back to proftp?"

As I said, it's still the same thing - no overwrite allowed. I sent back a response saying so, and it seems that's the end of my issue, since I haven't heard from the tech (or anyone else) since.

I see a few folks in this forum have had this same problem, but their problem hasn't been answered. Seemingly for them, switching ftp servers fixed it or else they just gave up.

Could I please get some help on this?

Finally fixed it... switched back and forth between pure-ftp and proftp about 5 times (checking overwrite permissions each time) and FINALLY on a proftp switch it let us overwrite again.

I'm not touching it anymore... pureftp can go fly.

I too had this problem, it seems AllowOverwrite is not set globally in proftpd.conf with the new Cpanel upgrade. It is there for dedicated IPs, so problem occur only for shared IP domains. Just need to add "AllowOverwrite on" in the conf.
