cant receive email, can only send...HELP?

Hey guys,
My server has stoped receiving email.......I can still send but cannot receive.....

Where should I begin with a problem like this......

any help is greatly appreciated.....

(NOTE: does imap have anything to do with it, because IMAP has failed, and I cant restart it....How would I restart it??)

You should be able to restart IMAP through WHM,
if you restart it through SSH it should give you some kind of error message, check in the error logs of your imap and pop3 servers though to see if there is anything there that could be causing the problems,

Are you by chance running v6 on a RH8 box? I am currently tracking this same issue, and the o/s is the only difference between two test boxes.

no, Annette, I am not running v6.......

anyway, I fixed the problem....

however, I am getting errors trying to start IMAP through WHM?? any remedies??

Have you tried looking at your logs to see what the problem might be?

In outlook express make sure you have it set to login to send email. By default it doesn't do this. So check that. I can guarantee that is your problem.

The problem is not with sending mail, it's with receiving it. The server terminates the connection running v6 under RH8.

Ryan, we've decided to just stick with RH7.3 since we know that works and use the RH8 box as a general purpose testing ground and storage server instead of dealing with this particular problem, so I won't be looking into this very hard at the moment as we have other things that are going to occupy the bulok of our time. Hopefully someone else will have the same issue and discover a fix for it.

Looks like both. I did not open a ticket on this, as I was trying to gather some more information for you. We're a little pressed with other things at the moment and I haven't had as much time to dig around.
