Can't remove Addon Domain

i have a client who added a domain using the addon domain function in cPanel.. now he wants to remove it..

we both get this error:

(domains changed to protect the guilty.. )
go back and, of course, the addon domain is still there...

anyway.. how do you remove this addon domain? clear the ftp, and so on..
