    Hello :)

Could you provide the full steps we can take to reproduce the issue? Also, do you notice any output to /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log when the backup fails?

    Thank you.

    Hello :)

I have opened internal case 101477 to address the issue with downloading home directory backups in cPanel version 11.43 (11.44 development build). Please feel free to monitor our change logs for the inclusion of this case number. In the meantime, you can download/generate a full backup in cPanel as a temporary solution.

    Thank you.

Internal case number 101477 was addressed with cPanel version 11.44, so you should not experience this issue on version 11.46. Feel free to open a support ticket using the link in my signature if you want us to take a closer look. You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome.

    Thank you.

Well...simply answer was do not use Winrar! lol....used 7zip without problem. Looks like winrar is not properly understanding the compression in tar.gz files generated by cpanel backups. Hope this info help others.
