Under Manage root’s SSH Keys > Private Keys > "key name here" > View / download key.

"Enter the passphrase to unlock keynamehere for conversion"

When you enter the password, the next screen shows a blank box...

However, if you create a key, with no password, and do the above, it shows the info for the key to add into a ppk file for connection..

Why would it show blank if a password is used... but show fine with no password used?

    Hello :)

Internal case 103473 is open to address this issue. There is currently no specific time frame available on when a resolution will be released, but please feel free to monitor our change log for the case number. In the meantime, the current workaround is to use the Puttygen application on your desktop.

    Thank you.

    Here is another (non-desktop) workaround:

    - if you still has password based ssh access to the server you can run:

    mkdir -p ~/.ssh/putty
    /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/puttygen ~/.ssh/id_dsa -O private -o ~/.ssh/putty/id_dsa.ppk

    - if you don't - the other way is to ask your WHM admin to do it for you.

Is there any progress in this simple case?
For the last 2 months we need to generated PPKs manually.

Yes, progress has been made by our developers on internal case number 103473. The resolution is scheduled for a future build of cPanel version 11.44, but no exact time frame is currently available.

    Thank you.
