Hi!
After the recent upgrade to Horde, one of my clients has discovered a bug with IMP's handling of attachments when using Internet Explorer 11. When adding an attachment to a message, a user is given two prompts to add an attachment. After this, they will receive two notices in the bottom right hand corner. One says that the attachment was added successfully. The second says that the attachment failed to upload successfully.

I believe that the problem is related to Prototype not detecting IE11 correctly. I experimented with updating the Prototype Browser detection function, and I was able to get it to detect IE11 as IE and remove the second prompt when adding an attachment. However, I still receive two notices in the bottom right hand corner of the screen when adding an attachment. In addition, the popdown menu to the right of the attachment name creates a Javascript error.

Thoughts?

Hello :)

Yes, this is due to a bug with Horde:

[#12875] IE11 attachment adding problem

It was only recently resolved by Horde, so that change has not yet been implemented into cPanel. Once Horde includes that patch into a stable version of Horde Groupware, that version can then be considered for inclusion with cPanel.

Thank you.

Has Horde fixed this yet? I had a client report this problem today.

We have yet to implement a version of Horde that includes this patch, but we do have internal case number 110505 open for this issue. There is currently no specific time frame available on it's release, but I've noted this forums thread in the case notes.

Thank you.

I've been getting a lot of complaints from our employees in the field regarding this issue. It's taken a while for our web host to narrow the root of the problem down for me; but when they did, they linked this discussion. I can't help but notice that this case was opened more than a year ago, and that cPanel 11.50 was released two weeks ago; yet the problem still exists.

Unfortunately, our employees are working under contract to the state DOT and are using government computers. They do not have the option of using another browser, nor are they able to configure a mail client, since the VPN router that they are connected to does not permit the port IMAP requires. To be honest, it took several weeks just to get our website whitelisted so that our employees could log into their webmail in the first place!

Soooo - compatibility mode doesn't work.... IS there a solution on the horizon, or do we throw in the towel and go back to our old web host?

Hello :)

Updates to Horde that will address this issue are scheduled for cPanel version 11.52. There's currently no specific time frame on when version 11.52 will reach the build tier you are on (11.50 was only released to the "Stable" tier today), but you can monitor our change log to see when it happens:

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for the update! I've been trying to follow the change log; but I'm still a relative "newbie" to all of this; and have to admit that understanding the chain of updates on the log page is a bit of a struggle for me. I see that it lists
11.52 Change Log
11.51.9999.128
2015-08-26

  • Am I actually looking at 11.52 or the changes that are leading up to the "Stable" tier, which has not yet been released?
  • If the "Stable" tier has not yet been relased, how much longer does it typically take from this point? (I'm guessing R.9999.128 means it's really close!)
Our field employees believe that I'm giving them excuses rather than fixing their problem, and have begun complaining to the bosses. They don't seem to be able to create compressed files, so the temporary work-around isn't working out for them... I completely understand the need to work out all of the bugs in order to avoid other, bigger problems before installing any updates on our server; and that fully testing each revision is the only way to ensure that. All the same, I'd be very grateful if you could give me an approximate timeframe....

Thanks again!

There's no specific time frame for when cPanel version 11.52 will reach the additional build tiers. It depends on several factors, including the number and scope of issues that are discovered on each build tier. Currently, there's an early estimate for 11.52 to reach the "Current" build tier towards the end of September, but that's only an estimate.

Thank you.
