    Was just about to post that I'm having this exact same issue and error message on 11.48.1 (build 2). The root password actually does change. I went ahead and rebooted the server and manually set it using 'passwd' which also worked. Looks like a bug in the new build.

       Cpanel::AccessIds::do_as_user(__CPANEL_HIDDEN__, CODE(0x45dd6e0)) called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Services.pm line 252
       Cpanel::Services::signal_users_cpsrvd_to_reload("root") called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/ChangePasswd.pm line 165
       Cpanel::ChangePasswd::change_password(__CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, HASH(0x5ee9b08), __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, ...) called at /usr/local/cpanel/Whostmgr/Passwd.pm line 36
       Whostmgr::passwd::passwd(__CPANEL_HIDDEN__, __CPANEL_HIDDEN__, HASH(0x5ee9b08)) called at whostmgr/bin/whostmgr.pl line 2141
       main::passwd() called at whostmgr/bin/whostmgr.pl line 874

    It appears related to the internal case referenced in my earlier responses to this thread. The root password should have still updated successfully, despite the warning message. Are you sure it's not locked out by cPHulk brute force detection?

    Thank you.
