Was just about to post that I'm having this exact same issue and error message on 11.48.1 (build 2). The root password actually does change. I went ahead and rebooted the server and manually set it using 'passwd' which also worked. Looks like a bug in the new build.

Hello :)

Internal case number 169977 is open to address the issue where the "Change Root Password" option in Web Host Manager results in an error, despite successfully updating the root password. You can monitor our change log for this case number at:

11.48 - Change Log

Thank you.

It appears related to the internal case referenced in my earlier responses to this thread. The root password should have still updated successfully, despite the warning message. Are you sure it's not locked out by cPHulk brute force detection?

Thank you.
