Please note, The root password are changed but why getting this error message. Why not show root password are changed message?

Just wanted say im having the same issue on a new installed centos 6 converted to CL dedicated server
CLOUDLINUX 6.6 x86_64 standard – server WHM 11.48.1 (build 2)

Was just about to post that I'm having this exact same issue and error message on 11.48.1 (build 2). The root password actually does change. I went ahead and rebooted the server and manually set it using 'passwd' which also worked. Looks like a bug in the new build.

Internal case number 169977 is open to address the issue where the "Change Root Password" option in Web Host Manager results in an error, despite successfully updating the root password. You can monitor our change log for this case number at:

I have VPS, and after I have changed my root password I got error message and now I cant login via old or new password. What should I do now?

It appears related to the internal case referenced in my earlier responses to this thread. The root password should have still updated successfully, despite the warning message. Are you sure it's not locked out by cPHulk brute force detection?
