This happens to me yesterday , you can relaunch update now, it has been fixed

Are you still experiencing this issue, or was it a temporary network issue with the CPAN mirrors?

Also, if this is a VPS, check to make sure you are not encountering any resource limits. Look for fail counts with the "tcpsndbuf" parameter in:

The error you reported can happen when the CPAN (Perl repository) mirror your server is configured to use, is down or otherwise not responding. This will typically resolve itself as the bad mirrors are disabled, or you could also try editing your resolvers in /etc/resolv.conf to public resolvers such as 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2. Where is the list of CPAN mirrors stored?

Is there a way to regenerate this to a known good list prior to doing an update?

The issue isn't always DNS related, sometimes a mirror will resolve, but it doesn't have the file that the update is looking for.

Would seem to make sense to regenerate this list of mirrors prior to performing an update with a known good list of mirrors.

You could directly edit the "urllist" value in the "Config.pm" file associated with your Perl installation. For example, on a test server that I checked, this file is located at:

# /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/CPAN/Config.pm

To update, this issue is actually related to a bug with cpanm where it will not unpack certain modules. There is an internal case open that addresses this issue by including a newer version of cpanm with cPanel. For reference, the case number is 69101. The workaround is to manually install the module via:

So should the above be run BEFORE the cpup command to solve this issue?

Yes, you can run the command before updating cPanel if you are experiencing this problem.

I experienced this problem also when upgrading from 11.34.1.5 to 11.34.1.16 (have to stay on this version on one server that still needs php 5.2.17). The above solved the problem and allowed the WHM upgrade. Thanks!

I'm experiencing the same problem. Stuck on 30% trying to resolve. Will the process just stop at some point? Can I safely stop update at this point? I'm not sure what to do now that it is "stuck".

The below worked for me, your situation might be different. If you have shell access SSH onto your server.
Run "ps aux | grep upcp"

Use "kill -9 {processid} to kill the upcp processes, usually there are 3.
Gracefully reboot your server.

I WOULD NOT kill the UPCP processes if you are finally past this particular issue as the upgrade could be taking place and files being replaced already, in which case, it is a bad thing to kill your upcp processes.

However, if you server is still stuck on looking for cpan mirrors to find this rpm, then you can safely kill the cpup, restart the server, follow the steps to manually install the rpm and then continue back to your upcp /force.
