Migrating accounts that uses mailman and its archives is very troublesome! I am talking about cPanel server to cPanel server migrations. If the archive is too large, the migration will not move the mbox file over. Or even worse, sometimes it only does a partial restore of the archives.

Or as I seen this morning it will restore some list archives while bombing on other list archives. This happened under the same cPanel account.

Or even better yet, I tried a workaround and just manually packaged the cPanel account on the old server, FTPed the cpmove file over to the new cPanel server, and same thing. Some archives were rebuilt while others were not. The funny thing is ALL of the archives are in the full cpmove file.

Or here is something else, when terminating a cPanel account, the archives are left behind! Not removed.

So cPanel can we have some special attention given to the migration/termination of Mailman list archives. Because right now they are not handled correctly at all and this behavior has been happening for years.

Hi Brian,

Please open a ticket from WHM or cPanel Customer Portal and we will get some test restores done and adjust any timeouts as needed.

If you can provide an affected cpmove file we can likely pin down the problem very quickly

Thank you

Hello,

To update, we are currently investigating this issue via a support ticket. Additionally, we have an internal case (CPANEL-18456) open to solve an issue where Mailman archives are not removed upon account termination. I'll update this thread with more information as it becomes available.

Thank you.

Hello,

To update, the following internal cases were opened to address the issue reported in this thread:

CPANEL-18456 - Ensure mailman archives are removed on account termination
CPANEL-18483 - Improve reliability of mailman archive restore by reducing memory needed

CPANEL-18456 is included with cPanel version 70.0.12, and CPANEL-18483 is scheduled for inclusion in an upcoming cPanel version 70 build. I'll update this thread again once the resolution associated with internal case CPANEL-18483 is published.

Thank you.

Hello,

Internal case CPANEL-18483 is addressed in cPanel version 70.0.13:

Fixed case CPANEL-18483: Improve reliability of mailman archive restore by reducing memory needed.

Let us know if you experience any additional issues with the mailman archives during the restore/transfer process once your system is updated to this version.

Thank you.
