My servers auto-updated themselves with 135 updated packages. However mod_security appears to be broken now. Anyone else having problems?

    Code:
    /etc/cron.hourly/modsecparse.pl:

In case anyone else is having problems, I ran /scripts/upcp and encountered a ton of cPanel-related errors, but it completed eventually. I'm now running /scripts/checkperlmodules and every perl module installed appears to be rebuilding as I type.

Hopefully this'll fix it, but I've never had to do this before after a major OS update.

OK after 10 minutes perl has finished updating every module. ConfigServer Mail Queue and Firewall are working again, but mod_security isn't - I get an Internal Server Error.

    I ran UPCP again:

Are the cPanel scripts incompatible with something, or is PERL still broken?

    CentOS 5.4 released

Just noticed this morning that CentOS 5.4 is out, and I was wondering if it would be safe to do "yum update" without breaking anything?

    Another update...

I had to reboot the server because the Release Notes state glibc and kernel updates are included in CentOS 5.4.

For some reason CentOS reset the server's MAC address which caused the network adapter to fail during boot. The server booted fine, but without network connectivity.

Once this problem was sorted it booted with network.

However cPanel's queueprocd server won't start since the reboot. Not sure why but I've raised a ticket as I still have other servers to update/reboot. :(

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

My centos server auto updated to 5.4 during the night. There were no problems.

11 boxes, went from 5.3 to 5.4, hundreds of packages. I went ahead and recompiled apache and rebooted. Not the first package update issue so far. I use CSF/LFD with modsec2 and it's blocked 20 IPs since last night.

about a week ago i updated kernels and rebooted all my machines. I do seem to recall one that the network services didn't come back up. I use IPMI for console access. a manual network start resulted in "no nic device found" this was on the eth1 NIC, the eth0 (private nic) was fine. I rebooted again and it came right back fine as well as last night after the 5.4 update.

We had similar problems related to the new installation of perl. We tried /scripts/checkperlmodules but the problems persisted.

We reinstalled the perl version that is available on cPanel's mirrors. Before we did so, we packaged the currently installed perl modules for safe keeping:

    Code:
    perl -MCPAN -e 'autobundle'

    To update (downgrade) perl:
    Code:
    cd /
    wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/perl588installer.tar.gz
    tar -xvzf perl588installer.tar.gz
    cd ./perl588installer
    ./install
    cd /
    rm -rf ./perl588installer
    rm ./perl588installer.tar.gz

Removes cached Perl version in client's cPanel:
    Code:
    rm -f /home/*/.cpanel-datastore/_usr_bin_perl_-v
    rm -f /home/*/.cpanel/datastore/_usr_bin_perl_-v

    Afterwards, we ran

    Code:
    /scripts/upcp --force

and this addressed our problem. If you want to restore the perl modules that were previously installed, you can run:

    Code:
    perl -MCPAN -e 'install Bundle::Snapshot_INSERT_YOUR_DATE_HERE'

and change the snapshot name appropriately for your snapshot. Particularly, we've been having this problem with VMs. Not many dedicated machines exhibiting these issues. Not sure if it's related.

That's good news. I have two machines that have updated so far. Both have been rebooted. I haven't seen any problems yet.
