I'm running CentOS 4.5 and cPanel 11 on a VPS powered by Xen 3.0.

Does CentOS 5 work? Are there any known problems with it and cPanel 11?

Is it possible to upgrade to CentOS 5 but rollback to CentOS 4 if I have any problems, and is the process in doing this easy?

    Thanks in advance!

if your on a vps i would have thought all your host needs to do is modify your vps template, however i may be wrong.

as for compatability i don't know of any problems, i'm running cpanel11 on centos 5 i686 with no problems!

CentOS 5 is supported with cPanel 11. AFAIK, there are no known issues with running CentOS 5 with cPanel 11.

I generally don't like to change an OS or update to a new full release
after Cpanel has been installed just because it can sometimes be
a complete and total nightmare getting things synced back up again
after completely replacing all the system files on the server.

For such upgrades, I most often just setup a new server with the
newer or changed operating system and than do a full migration
of all accounts and settings from the old server.

Believe me -- you'll live longer doing it that way! ;)

Well, I've asked my host to do a full remote backup before doing the upgrade. If there are any problems, I can ask them to roll it back in minutes. :)

However, it's a good point and I should have mentioned it.

This goes to anyone (including cPanel staff):

Are there any known issues with cPanel when doing an upgrade from CentOS 4.5 to 5.0? I could do with knowing before 13:00 BST so I can contact the host in case it's not worth doing it if there are loads of issues.

    Thanks in advance!
