Change default document root

Is there a way to change the default docroot (public_html) to httpdocs (or whatever I want) when creating an account?

If not, can this be altered via the vhost.conf without cPanel overwriting it at some point?

A symlink will not work because this domain will be created/updated via a subversion repo that will install httpdocs as a folder.
